Truck and trailer slide into Bedford Basin

dewolf-park-playground-summerAlthough we’re in the midst of a summer heat wave, some studded winter snow tires might have come in handy for a would-be boater in Bedford today.

At about 2:30 p.m., a man was launching his boat at the boat ramp at Convoy Run Park. After getting the boat off his trailer, his truck and trailer slid into the water on slippery seaweed.

The truck was completely submerged and divers were called in to hook a tow cable to the truck to have the vehicle removed form the Basin.

The total damage to the truck is estimated to be in excess of $30,000. There were no injuries.
