The third annual Tuesday Night Tunes concert series will be on the Halifax waterfront this summer, presented by the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and Waterfront Development.

The concerts will take place in the museum courtyard every Tuesday night until Aug. 25. In case of bad weather, the concerts will be in the Small Craft Gallery.

“Tuesday Night Tunes makes a connection between music and heritage as part of our culture,” said Communities, Culture and Heritage Minister Tony Ince. “The concert series is a wonderful opportunity for people to experience the talents of emerging Nova Scotian musicians.”

The museum will kick off the summer series with a noon concert today, May 19, featuring a selection of songs from Naming the Twins and Ragged Robin. The first evening concert will be Tuesday, May 26, at 7 p.m., featuring Naming the Twins.

“It’s wonderful to see the Tuesday Night Tunes series grow,” said Colin MacLean, president and CEO, Waterfront Development. “The Halifax waterfront is the premier stage for recreation, entertainment and culture. Bringing together such a variety of local talent, along with the many sights, sounds and tastes the waterfront offers is a perfect reason to come and enjoy an evening out.”

Admission to the museum is free on Tuesday nights. Waterfront food and service specials will be updated on Twitter using the hashtag #tuesdaynighttastes.

Naming the Twins is the harmonizing duo of Robbie Smith and Kathleen Glauser. They just released their second album featuring original folk songs. Ragged Robin brought Erin Dempsey and Ellen Gibling together to form a vibrant musical duo with harp, flute and vocals.
