Turbine Showcase: Let’s Relive The Most Memorable Moments

Turbine Showcase: Let's Relive The Most Memorable Moments

Last week I was happy to be invited to attend the Turbine Showcase 2012 by Lisa Drader-Murphy at Casino Nova Scotia. With a quick change and an even faster pick up of my girl
Mo we were off to the Turbine Showcase: red lipstick in tow. With CTV Morning live co-host Heidi Petracek and musical performances by Andrea Somers this show was off without a hitch.

With designs inspired from Lisa’s travels to India there was no shortage of bright bold colors, rich gold detailing, and printed flowy fabrics coming down the runway. With three acts the audience was taken through a plethora of style options from Lisa Drader-Murphy (over 300 pieces to be exact). My favorite were the T-shirt dresses with the sheer bottom layer. I think these t-shirt dresses are ageless, timeless and perfectly versatile, as they really could easily be dressed up or down with the right accessories.

I am a 100% of fan of any clothing line that promotes fashion with a conscience – Lisa Drader-Murphy might be known for her chic designs, but what a lot of people probably don’t know is how much this woman pays it forward with the Turbine Fund that aims to help support and empower women. Net proceeds from the Turbine Showcase event went to The Margerite Centre which is an organization that helps women in their recovery from substance abuse and addiction.

It was refreshing to see models coming down the runway with a big smile on their face. Sometimes fashion shows can be uber serious it was kind of fun to see everyone having fun to support a great cause.  Reading the bios in the brochure I was blown away with the accomplishments of the women hitting the runway. From actresses to athletes to successful business women to cancer survivors; there was no shortage of relatable inspiring women coming down the runway in Lisa Drader-Murphy’s lovely designs.

The ultimate most memorable moment of the night was when this little mini fashion diva came down the runway. She was too adorable for words, and she certainly stole the show.  She melted everyone’s heart and she was working those cameras at the end of the runway and the crowd loved her!

In short, I had a blast at the show with my girl Mo, and I’ll take any excuse to get all dolled up and wear red lipstick: especially if it promotes a good cause. All photographs were graciously borrowed from David Elliot. Thanks Turbine Team for putting on a very fun show 🙂

Well Done Lisa!
Much Love,
