Turning 31 is scary! Wait, no it’s not!

This post is about a week and a half late, but it’s been a busy few weeks. Last weekend was my 31st birthday.  I’m not sure why, but I had been having a hard time dealing with turning 31. The funny thing is that for my 30th, I was super pumped and pretty much high-5ed my way in to 30 like it was my job. But for some reason, 31… ewww… who the hell wants to be 31? It’s taken me almost two weeks, but I’ve come to grips that 31 isn’t bad, and I’m actually really looking forward to the next year.  I’m not sure if it’s because lately I’ve been talking a lot about changes and the things I need and want to change in my life and I’m inspired, or if it’s just that I’ve come to realize that 31 is the new 21, even thought I don’t think I’d actually want to be 21 again. I’m excited for what my 31st year is going to bring and for what the future holds for me.  I’ve just accepted a new job as a Project Manager with an ad agency and I start on Monday.  Actually, not only will I be project managing, but I’m also going to have the opportunity to do some marketing, social media, implement some new processes and do some business development, so that is exciting. I’ve also started back to the gym and started to get back on track with my healthy diet and lifestyle (I want to see my abs again in my 31st year, I really miss them).  I’m in a great relationship, with an amazing woman and we just celebrated 2 years together.  My brother is getting married this year.  I have high hopes for Your Inner Skinny as a website and a brand. And I’m challenging myself to do new things every single day, which is helping me learn more about who I am. Life is good. 31 is going to be good! In case you were wondering what I did for my 31st birthday, I played in the 6th annual YK Beach Snow Volleyball tournament.  Gina and I entered it with a friend of mine with no expectations, except to have fun. We were a team of three, competing in a four person per team tournament (we called ourselves “Team Tripod”), and two of my teammate are not even volleyball players. HELL, Gina doesn’t even play sports.  Like I said, we just wanted to have some fun.  BUT to everyone’s surprise, including our own, we came second!!!! It was a beautifully cold and sunny day and it was a lot of fun.  After that, as much as all I wanted to do was nap, we had a house party with good friend, good food and good drinks and by the end of the night we had the guitars out, trying to play some drunken East Coast music. So here’s to my 31st year and everything it brings, good and bad. I’m looking forward to it!  ...
