Twenty-six hours, three Stunting charges on Highway 104, Pictou County

Between September 25 and 27, Pictou District RCMP charged three drivers for stunting on Hwy 104 in Pictou County.

On September 25 at noon, a 24-year-old man from New Glasgow was charged with Stunting after he was seen driving a vehicle at 174 km/hr (64 km/hr above the posted speed limit). Another vehicle was seen travelling 148 km/hr (38 km/hr above the speed limit) and the driver was given a speeding ticket.

On September 26 at approximately 11:50 p.m., a 23-year-old man from Moncton was charged with Stunting after he was seen driving 174 km/hr (64 km/hr above the posted speed limit).

On September 27 at approximately 1:35 a.m., an 18-year-old man from Merigomish was charged with Stunting after he was seen driving 176 km/hr (66 km/hr over the speed limit). An additional vehicle was seen travelling 166 kmh and the driver was given a speeding ticket.

The fine for Stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50. The RCMP wants to remind the public that speed is one of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads. Road safety is a priority for police, and drivers are reminded to make it their priority as well.
