Halifax District RCMP, with assistance of Halifax Regional Police, has arrested a 17-year-old male youth following a shooting early this morning in Cole Harbour.
At approximately 12:40 a.m., Halifax District RCMP and EHS responded to a shooting on Sedgemoor Crt. in Cole Harbour. The shooting had occurred during a party where 20–30 people were gathered outside a residence.
Responding officers and EHS located two 15-year-old victims. One victim had an apparent gunshot wound to their arm. They were treated at the scene by officers and EHS for non-life-threatening injuries then transported to hospital by EHS. The second victim is reported to have been shot in the leg and sustained minor injuries. They were treated at the scene by EHS and released.
The suspect, who is known to the victims, had fled the scene before police arrived. RCMP and Halifax Regional Police (HRP) officers immediately began to search for the suspect with assistance of RCMP and HRP Police Dog Services. Just after 2 a.m. officers located and arrested the suspect in Dartmouth.
The suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues. The investigation is being led by the General Investigative Section of the RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
