Two arrested after police chase in Downtown Halifax

A 28-year-old man and 28-year-old woman from Halifax are in police custody following a brief vehicle pursuit early this morning in Halifax shortly before 9 A.M.

Officers of the Halifax Regional Police became aware of a vehicle of interest in relation to an RCMP file in Tantallon early this morning. Officers located the vehicle while conducting proactive community patrols driving in the area of Spring Garden Road. An attempt was made to stop the vehicle at which time it failed to stop. The vehicle was not pursued further in the interest of public safety due to vehicle and pedestrian traffic levels.

Moments later, the vehicle was seen by members in the north end of Barrington Street. The vehicle had suffered damage from a collision with a curb. The occupants abandon the truck, fleeing from it and into the woods near the foot of the MacKay Bridge.
