Two men arrested for drug offences

Digby RCMP has charged two men in a drug investigation in Digby.

On June 9, 2023, at approximately 5 p.m., Digby RCMP officers were on routine patrol when they observed two men near an SUV on Warwick St. in Digby. One of the them was wanted for Robbery in the Meteghan area and was safely arrested. During the arrest, RCMP officers confirmed that the SUV belonged to one of the men and observed illegal cigarettes sitting on the floor of the vehicle, as the vehicle window was open. RCMP officers seized the cigarettes and while conducting a search of the vehicle, the second man began obstructing officers, which resulted in his arrest.

During a search incidental to arrest of the second man, officers located crack cocaine and cash on his person. Both were seized. RCMP officers also located more crack cocaine and cash in the vehicle.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and a search warrant was executed on it. During the search, RCMP officers located further evidence indicative of drug trafficking.

Jermaine Roshawn Tynes, 27, of the Halifax Regional Municipality, and Harry Walter Bell, 32 of Weymouth, are jointly charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (2 counts), Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession for use in Production or Trafficking.

Bell has also been charged with Robbery, Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance, Flight from Police and Theft of a Motor Vehicle, related to an incident in Saint Bernard, Nova Scotia, on April 25, 2023.

Both men were remanded into custody over the weekend and appeared in Digby Provincial Court on June 12. They were released on conditions by the court and will return to Digby Provincial Court on August 28, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.
