Two men rescued from capsized boat

At approximately 3:51 p.m. yesterday afternoon, RCMP Halifax District responded to a 911 call of a capsized boat off of Peggy’s Cove Road, Highway 333.

The boaters, two men ages 50 and 63 both from Hammonds Plains, were rescued by a passing sailboat and a row boat when the 12-foot aluminum boat they were traveling in capsized.

The men were transported by EHS to the QEII and Cobequid Hospitals for observation. The RCMP can confirm the men were wearing life vests at the time. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the capsizing of the boat is continuing.
