Two overnight robberies investigated by HRP

17-30947  Robbery

At approximately 9:03 pm Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a robb­ery that had just oc­curred at the Smoke Shop located at 2651 Windsor St in Halif­ax.  On arrival it was learned that a man had entered the st­ore and demanded mon­ey from the clerk.  There were no injuri­es to the clerk and the suspect fled the area on foot with an amount of cash.  The suspect is descri­bed as a 30 to 40 ye­ar old white man,  5’10 – 6ft tall,  thin build, wearing fad­ed blue jeans, 3/4 quarter length black parka, a black toque with a white stripe.  HRP patrol divisi­on members and Quick Response Unit membe­rs were unable to lo­cate the male in the area.  The matter is currently being in­vestigated by members of the Integrated Criminal Investigati­on Division. 

17-31004 Armed Robbe­ry

At approximately 11:­55 pm Halifax Region­al Police responded to a report of an ar­med robbery at Jenny­’s Place, located at 6211 Lady Hammond Dr, Halifax.  On arri­val it was learned from a staff member, that he had opened an exterior door, bel­ieving there was som­eone there that he knew, and two men rus­hed into the bar.  Once inside the bar, one of the men point­ed a handgun at the staff member while the second man ran in­to the office.  The staff member became involved in a strugg­le with the man with the gun, which knoc­ked both men to the ground.  The staff member was able to di­sarm the suspect just prior to both susp­ects fleeing the bar on foot.  A quantity of money was stolen from the office ar­ea of the bar.  The firearm was recovered at the scene. The staff member was not injured in this inc­ident. A search of the area was conducted by HRP K9 assisted by members of the Emergency Response Te­am with negative res­ults.  The matter is currently being inv­estigated by members of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
