Police responded to the collision at approximately​ 10:30 p.m. on Hwy. 357. A car had left the road and entered the Musquodoboit River.

The driver and only occupant, a​ 46-year-old woman from Meaghers Grant was transported to hospital and later pronounced deceased.

EHS and Musquodoboit Harbour and Porters Lake Volunteer Fire Departments also responded.

An RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene. The investigation is ongoing.​ The Hwy. was closed for several hours but has since been re-opened.

RCMP investigates fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision in East Margaree

Inverness District RCMP is investigating a fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision that occurred on December 26 in East Margaree and are asking for people who may have seen the collision to come forward.

At 10 a.m., Inverness District RCMP received a 911 call of a vehicle-pedestrian collision in a parking lot in the 1100 block of East Margaree Rd. Preliminary investigation indicates a 76-year-old man pedestrian from East Margaree was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot. The driver was not injured.

EHS transported the man to hospital where he later died.

The investigation is ongoing.
