Two youth face multiple charges including weapon offenses – Middle Sackville

At 11:00 p.m. last evening, Halifax District RCMP attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Sackville Dr. in Middle Sackville. The vehicle, a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, had been reported stolen earlier in the day from Dartmouth.

The 16-year-old male driver struck a moving police vehicle during one incident when he pulled out and passed the police vehicle. In another incident, he drove towards an RCMP member who was out of their vehicle. The member was able to get out of the way before being clipped by the passing car. The member suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention. The vehicle was located a short time later after the driver lost control and entered a ditch on Bruce Dr. in Lower Sackville.

Halifax Regional Police K-9 assisted with the arrest of a 16-year-old male in nearby woods and a 14-year-old female was located walking down a street.

The 16-year-old male is facing the following charges:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Flight from Police
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Mischief
  • Possession of Stolen Property
  • Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident
  • Fail to Comply with an Undertaking

The 14-year-old female is facing the following charges:

  • Possession of Stolen Property
  • Obstruction

Both remain in police custody and are scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court later today. The investigation is continuing.
