RCMP release:

Eskasoni RCMP has arrested two youths involved in separate incidents of school threats in Eskasoni.

On September 25, at approximately 8:15 a.m., Eskasoni RCMP responded to a report of threats circulating online. RCMP officers learned that a youth had posted threats of a school shooting in Eskasoni on social media. RCMP officers quickly identified the youth involved and determined that there was no risk to the public.

On September 27, at approximately 9:20 a.m., RCMP officers responded to a second report of a school shooting also circulating on social media in relation to a school in Eskasoni. A youth was also identified in relation to this incident and it was determined that there was no public safety risk.

Eskasoni RCMP safely arrested the youth involved in the September 25 incident and the youth involved in the September 27 incident on the same day the threats were reported. They will each be facing a charge of Uttering Threats.

They were later released on conditions and will be appearing in Eskasoni Youth Justice Court on December 10, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
