Two youths detained after illegally entering parked vehicle – Eastern Passage

Two youths have been detained after entering a vehicle parked on Hornes Rd. in Eastern Passage without permission from the owner.

On March 25 at approximately 9 p.m., Halifax District RCMP received a call from a vehicle owner advising that two​ youths​ had been located inside the caller’s car. The​ caller confronted the youths and kept a visual on them until police arrived.

A 15-year-old male and a 13-year-old male were detained, transported to their parents and placed into their custody.

Halifax District RCMP also received four additional reports of nearby vehicles on Hornes Rd. and Janis Ann Dr.​ being rummaged through​ on March 25.​ Items taken from those vehicles, including a laptop, have since been returned to the owners.

All vehicles targeted were unlocked. The​ RCMP is reminding the public to lock​ vehicles​ and remove valuables in order to help protect property against theft.​

The investigation is ongoing.
