Uniacke Square shooting, man threatens people with knife

Police have seized a vehicle in connection with a shooting in Uniacke Square, and a man is in custody after threatening people with a knife.

The investigation is on going – a vehicle has been seized by Halifax Regional Police investigators, in Dartmouth, which is believed to have been the vehicle one of the victims was in after being shot.

At 6:39 pm, Halifax Regional Police responded to a call of shots being fired in the area of Uniacke St and Olympic Crt. Halifax. The investigation is in its early stages.

Shortly after the police responded to the scene, two males had made their way to the QE 2 Hospital with gun shot wounds. The males both in their mid twenties have serious injuries. One was shot in the leg and the second in the abdomen area. Investigators are still waiting to speak with the victims.

The scene on Olympic Crt is being processed by the Forensic Identification officers and Criminal Investigation Division members have been called in to continue the investigation.

At 1250 am Halifax Regional Police  responded to the 100 block of  Main St. Dartmouth, regarding a male threatening several people with a knife. A security officer  from MacDonalds chased the suspect. There were 2 separate victims, no one was injured.

A suspect was arrested in the vicinity of the call and brought into custody. A 21 year old male will be appearing in Dartmouth court at a later date, charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats.
