Members of Unifor Local 1 voted in favour of ratifying a new four year collective agreement with Halifax Shipyard.
The collective agreement covers approximately 900 shipbuilders at Halifax Shipyard who are hard at work building and maintaining the Royal Canadian Navy’s future and current combatant fleets.
“We are pleased with the result of today’s ratification vote and look forward to continuing to work together with our shipbuilders and Unifor Local 1 to support Canada’s Navy. This new collective agreement recognizes the skills of our shipbuilders, provides stability for our workforce and the company to plan for the future, and continues to establish Halifax Shipyard as a shipbuilding and ship repair facility that is on par with the top combat shipyards in the world,” said Kevin McCoy, President, Irving Shipbuilding.
