Update #2: Timberlea operation, Dartmouth, N.S.

Halifax District RCMP has contacted the Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) regarding an incident that occurred last evening.

Information came forward to police on Thursday regarding a potential weapons-related threat.

An investigation began leading the Integrated General Investigations Section of the Criminal Investigations Division to a suspect at a Tiger Maple Avenue residence Thursday evening.

At approximately 1:20 a.m., the Emergency Response Team entered the residence and located a deceased 19 year-old male. He was the only individual in the home at that time.

The Integrated General Investigation Section continues to lead the investigation.

With respect to the investigation into the death of the male, SiRT has taken over. Any questions with respect to that aspect should be directed to SiRT.

Note to media: The Nova Scotia RCMP Commanding Officer, A/Comm Brian Brennan, will deliver a brief statement on the status of this investigation at 7 p.m. at RCMP Headquarters, 80 Garland Ave., Dartmouth. Halifax Regional Police Chief Jean-Michel Blais will be available for questions.
