A Dartmouth man faces charges after barricading himself in his residence last night.
At approximately 6:42 p.m., police responded to an apartment building on Alderney Drive in Dartmouth for a report of a man causing a disturbance. When police went to speak to the man at an apartment he refused to open the door and indicated he was armed with a knife.
A number of officers including crisis negotiation attended and at approximately 10 p.m. police took the man into custody.
Seventy-seven-year old Alvin Jacob Spjuth of Dartmouth will appear in Dartmouth Provincial court today to face charges of uttering threats and breach of undertaking.
