Update: Body found at Oakfield Provincial Park, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM), N.S.

The HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit (MCU) is confirming that the discovery of a body at Oakfield Provincial Park is the result of a homicide.

Yesterday morning, 8:23 a.m.

, Lower Sackville RCMP got a call from a man walking his dog that he had discovered a body near the entrance to Oakfield Park. The Integrated MCU, Forensic Identification team and the Medical Examiner’s office were called into to assist investigators. The body had been burned.

Today, an autopsy was conducted with the Medical Examiner’s office and investigators are confirming the death resulted from a homicide. Police are not releasing the cause of death at this time. Police have confirmed the man’s identity but his name and details are not being released at this time due to pending notifications. The scene has been released.

The matter remains under investigation.
