UPDATE: Charges laid against erratic driver

Tuesday March 19th 2012, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) N.S. ….. Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police(RCMP) Sackville office, are presently investigating several offences involving a 31 year old male resident of Mt Uniake. 

The initial complaint came at 19:12 hours of a male who went to his former place of employment on Cobequid Road, in a very drunken and angry condition. He threw chairs around in the business, tried to start fights with persons on site and urinated in the outside parking lot, prior to driving away in a Pontiac Sunfire. The integrated dispatch centre then started to receive complaints at 19:24 hours from the motoring public, of this same vehicle driving in a very reckless and life threatening manner in the area of Glendale Drive and Beaverbank Road. At 19:35 hours a marked police unit tried to stop the suspect vehicle with its emergency equipment in the area of 833 Sackville Drive. The driver refused to stop and tried to flee in the Sunfire, driving out the 101 Highway towards Mt. Uniake. The suspect vehicle was immobilized and stopped with a spike belt near exit 3 on Highway 101. The driver was taken into custody at 19:41 hours. Another complaint was then received that this same suspect vehicle and been involved in an earlier hit and run accident on at the intersection of Stokil Drive and Beaverbank Road. The 31 year old male resident of Mt. Uniake will be held in custody overnight and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court in the am on numerous driving related offences. No one was injured in any of the incidents reported to date. The suspect is a suspended driver and is currently on a undertaking not to drink due to an outstanding impaired driving and driving over 80 milligrams charge, that are still before the courts. The matter is still under investigation.

June 20, 2012, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) . . . RCMP in Lower Sackville have laid charges following an incident on Hwy 101 in Lower Sackville last night.

Thirty-one-year-old Robert John Walsh from Mount Uniacke will be appearing in Dartmouth Provincial Court this morning to face the following charges:
Damage to Property
Causing a Disturbance
Dangerous Driving
Failing to Stop for Police
Failing to Stop at Scene of Accident
Resisting Arrest
Impaired Driving
Refusing Breathalyzer
Assault Police
Breach of an Undertaking
 
Last night at 7:12 p.m., RCMP responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a restaurant on Cobequid Road in Lower Sackville.  The suspect was throwing chairs and acting in an aggressive manner.  He then left in  a vehicle.  Employees at the restaurant wrote down the licence plate number and called police.  Shortly after, at 7:24 p.m., police received complaints of the same vehicle driving in a reckless and aggressive manner in the area of Glendale Drive and Beaver Bank Road in Lower Sackville.  At 7:35 p.m., the suspect vehicle was located by police on Sackville Drive.  The driver refused to stop for police and pulled onto Hwy 101, heading toward Mount Uniacke.  The suspect vehicle was immobilized by police at Exit 3 on Hwy 101 through the use of a spike belt.  The driver was arrested at 7:41 p.m.
