Update: Charges laid in Harbourview fatal collision, Harbourview, N.S.

RCMP have laid charges in a triple fatal collision investigation that occurred in July in Harbourview.

The Inverness RCMP Detachment have charged the male driver with six Criminal Code charges including three counts of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death and three counts of Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm.

The 17-year-old from Harbourview will be appearing in Port Hood Youth Court on February 19th, 2014.

These charges result from an investigation after three people died in a collision. On July 22nd at approximately 11:30 p.m., RCMP responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Shore Road in Harbourview. Preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle traveling northbound with seven occupants left the road and went into the ditch. Two occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. Four occupants were transported to St. Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish for treatment while one occupant passed away prior to being airlifted from Port Hood to the QEII Hospital.

The investigation is continuing.
