Update on QEII Victoria General site power issues

From NSHA:

Nova Scotia Health’s facilities management service and clinical leaders are continuing to address the impacts of the recent power outage at the Victoria General (VG) campus of the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre.

All buildings at the campus have full power. However, we are working to add additional redundancy to the electrical systems supporting the Centennial Building.

Until this is in place, the operating rooms in the Centennial Building will remain closed.

Clinical leaders have met to add operating room capacity at the Halifax Infirmary (HI) site and prioritize and redistribute or reschedule cases booked for the VG, HI and Dartmouth General Monday.

Any patient whose care will be rescheduled or provided in a different location will be contacted directly by their care team.

Most outpatient care and treatments scheduled for the VG site Monday will continue as planned. We will provide updates should there be impacts Tuesday or beyond.
