Update: Police arrest man in Halifax robbery

Halifax Regional Police has arrested a man in connection with a robbery that occurred last weekend in Halifax.

At approximately 9:50 p.m. on November 25, police responded to a report of a robbery with a firearm at the Cove Market & Video, 565 Herring Cove Road. Two white males, wearing masks and armed with long guns, entered the business. The suspects fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money from a charity box. The victim received non-life-threatening injuries but did not require medical attention. Patrol and K9 officers responded to the area and conducted a search, but, were not able to locate the suspects.

Just after 9 a.m. on November 27, patrol officers were called again to the Cove Market & Video located at 565 Herring Cove Road as it was reported that one of the suspects was currently in the store with two other men. All three men were arrested without incident. Two were later released at the scene without charges and one was transported to police headquarters for questioning.

Officers with the General Investigative Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division charged 22-year-old Shane Stephen Harnish of Halifax with one count each of robbery with a firearm, assault with a weapon, disguise with intent and numerous firearms related offences. He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today.
