Update: RCMP have one man in custody after violent assaults, North Kentville, N.S.

The RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crimes unit have laid attempted murder charges against a 50-year-old man after two people were assaulted with a weapon. On Friday evening, May 16th, at approximately 9:45 p.m.

, RCMP and Emergency Health Services (EHS) responded to a request for assistance at a residence on Exhibition Street in North Kentville. Preliminary investigation determined that a man from Kentville had assaulted a 41-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man in the residence belonging to the female victim. The suspect was arrested at the scene without incident. The 41-year-old woman who suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries remains in hospital.

Sherlock Peter Bowen, age 50, from Kentville, is facing two charges of Attempted Murder. He remains in custody and is set to appear in Kentville Provincial Court this morning. The investigation is continuing.
