Update: RCMP investigate multiple collisions Highway 14, Mill Section, N.S.

Windsor RCMP are releasing further details about the collisions that occurred yesterday morning in Mill Section.

On August 21st, at approximately 7:00 a.m., Windsor RCMP, Emergency Health Services (EHS) and the Windsor Fire Dept responded to a single vehicle roll over collision with injuries.

The 22-year-old female and lone occupant of the car lost control of her vehicle and rolled into the ditch. She was transported to the South Shore Hospital District with minor injuries.

While responding to this initial collision, first responders came across a second serious collision involving three vehicles in the same area. A 56-year-old driver of a large commercial truck traveling southbound collided with a car traveling northbound. After impact with the car, the truck crossed the highway and struck a power pole. Its load shifted, causing the truck to roll onto its side striking a pick-up truck that was stopped on the shoulder of the road. The commercial truck then caught on fire.

The driver of the commercial truck received minor injuries and was taken to the Hants Community Hospital by EHS. A 37-year-old female driver of the pick-up truck and her 5-year-old passenger were not injured. The driver of the northbound car, a 40-year-old man from Vaughan, was pronounced dead at the scene. At the request of the family the name is not being released.

At this time the RCMP are continuing with the investigation.
