Update: RCMP release names in suspicious death investigation, Truro Heights, N.S.

Colchester County RCMP and the Northeast Nova Major Crimes Unit are releasing the names of the victim and suspect involved in a suspicious death investigation. Cheryl Mildred Thompson, age 47, was found deceased in an apartment on Mitchell Drive in Truro Heights yesterday.

Colchester County RCMP and the Northeast Nova Major Crimes Unit are releasing the names of the victim and suspect involved in a suspicious death investigation.

Cheryl Mildred Thompson, age 47, was found deceased in an apartment on Mitchell Drive in Truro Heights yesterday.

RCMP investigators are at the Mitchell Drive apartment again today conducting the investigation. An autopsy began at 9 a.m. in Halifax to determine the cause of death.

Gerald Martin Thompson, age 49, of Truro Heights died yesterday as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot. RCMP are at the scene in Portapique this morning. Given the barricaded incident has been referred to Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) for investigation, media enquires about the investigation are being referred to that team.
