Cumberland County RCMP have arrested and charged three
men with arson after five structures were destroyed by fire in early May.
Yesterday morning, two men from Joggins, aged 26 and 20, as well as a 21-year-old man from Upper Nappan, were arrested without incident.
The men were taken into custody and interviewed about these incidents. Tyson Bradley Tompkins (26) and Brandon Kyle Burbine (20) of Joggins and Tyson Daniel David Taylor-Brown (21) of Upper Nappan are each facing five counts of Arson, one count of Conspiracy to Commit Arson and one count of Mischief.
‘I want to thank the community for their patience – it has been an unsettling time, and all of our RCMP Members know what an impact these fires have had on the local area’ said Sgt. Keith MacKinnon, Cumberland District RCMP. ‘Thanks to the persistence and thoroughness of our investigators, we have made arrests and charges have been laid.’
The men will appear in Amherst Provincial Court today. The investigation is continuing.
