Update: Unruly passenger charged in diverted flight incident, Halifax, N.S.

Halifax District RCMP have charged a 30-year-old South African woman following yesterday's incident on an international flight. On Wednesday, December 17th, Air Canada flight 869 was diverted to Halifax Stanfield International Airport due to an unruly passenger.

The A330 aircraft, holding 239 passengers, was traveling from London, England to Toronto, Ontario.

Nomantangwa Angel Babhekile Johansson from Sandhurst, Sandton, South Africa has been charged with three counts of Assault on an Aircraft, one count of Assault with Weapon, one count of Causing a Disturbance under the Criminal Code and one count of Endangering an Aircraft under the Aeronautics Act. She is appearing today in Dartmouth Provincial Court.
