On November 7, 2015 at 11:30 a.m., RCMP, Emergency Health Services(EHS) and Yarmouth Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 304 in Overton after a vehicle left the roadway after failing to negotiate a sharp turn and landed on its roof in a pond.

Two of the occupants were initially trapped inside the vehicle, while a third occupant was able to get out and make his way to shore. Emergency responders and members of the community entered the water and were able to remove the remaining two occupants. The 17-year-old driver was air-lifted to hospital in Halifax, but unfortunately has died as a result of his injuries.
