UPDATED: Police Arrest Man After Chase Through Sackville

 

An arrest of a 20 year old male was made in connection with a shooting which occurred yesterday on Parkland Drive.
 
At approximately 9:10 p.m. last evening Sackville RCMP located the victim’s vehicle, a yellow Pontiac Aztec, and attempted to pull over the operator of the vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop for Police and was involved in a pursuit which ended in a collision with an RCMP Cruiser and a civilian vehicle. No one was injured during this incident. The male operator of the vehicle was arrested, and will be held for court in the morning. He faces several firearms related charges from the shooting incident as well as new charges stemming from the vehicle pursuit.

December 24, 2013, Halifax Regional Municipality…RCMP arrest driver after fleeing from police in Lower Sackville. 
 
Last evening at 9:14 p.m., RCMP located what they believed was a stolen Pontiac Aztec on Old Sackville Road. When the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle fled from police and a pursuit ensued through Sackville.  A police officer’s car attempted to block the vehicle and was struck.  Officers deployed a spike belt on Glendale Drive. At 9:21 p.m. and the suspect vehicle continued on and was involved in a collision with another vehicle on Beaver Bank Road.  As a result of the collision, the suspect vehicle ended up in the ditch. 
 
“A situation like this reminds us of the dangers to the officers and public.” says Cpl.Scott MacRae. “RCMP officers put themselves at risk and removed a dangerous man from the streets today.”
 
RCMP arrested the 20-year-old male driver at the scene.  The man remains in police custody and will be facing numerous charges under the Criminal Code. He will be appearing in Halifax Provincial Court this morning. The investigation is continuing and officers are working with Halifax Regional Police in relation to the robbery yesterday morning in Halifax.

At 5:50 a.m. on Dec 23rd, police responded to a report of shots fired in the parking lot of a business in the 900 block of Parkland Drive. Officers learned that a 53-year-old man was in a verbal dispute with a man known to him. The suspect assaulted the victim and fired several shots at him but he was not hit. The victim was able to make his way to a nearby business where he called police. The suspect left the area in the victim’s car which has yet to be located. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries from the assault and was transported to hospital by EHS.
 
Investigators were looking for the victim’s yellow Pontiac Aztek. The suspect was described as a Middle-Eastern man, 20-years-old, thin build, 5’10”, black hair and brown eyes. At the time of the incident, he was wearing all dark clothing.
