Upgrade to Crosswalk Intersections

Thursday, Aug.

21, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is in the process of upgrading the crosswalk apparatus at Glendale and Pinehill drives, as well as at Glendale and Chandler drives in Lower Sackville.

This work is being done in conjunction with the already underway work to install new turning lanes at these intersections.

In order to accommodate the road widening and curb work, the poles currently supporting the overhead crosswalk signs need to be removed.

The municipality will be installing temporary side mounted crosswalk signs and new pavement markings in the coming days at both crosswalks to help make these locations more conspicuous during the work.

Upon completion of the road-widening project, both of the original crosswalks will be repainted with zebra markings and will have overhead crosswalk signs with flashing lights.

The municipality is reminding residents and motorists to use extra caution around these intersections as they will soon be heavily used by children when they return to school in the coming weeks.
