Vehicle crash causes power outage, police investigating

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a motor vehicle crash that occurred in Halifax last night.

At approximately 8:50 p.m. officers responded to a report of a single vehicle crash at the Armdale Rotary near Joseph Howe Drive. The vehicle struck a power pole, causing it to fall, and brought down power lines in the area. Officers arrested the driver after observing signs of impairment.

The roadway was closed to traffic for several hours as the damage to lines was repaired. The driver, a 51-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are anticipated.
