Vehicle in wrong lane, woman faces impaired driving charges

Just after midnight, Halifax District RCMP responded to a call that a small white car was driving in the wrong direction on the on-ramp to Hwy. 102 at Exit 3 (Hammonds Plains). The white car struck another vehicle on the ramp, causing minor damage, and kept on going. It continued to head outbound in the inbound lanes of the highway, towards Bedford.

Responding police officers heard a second call, while en-route to the first call, of a small white car that left the roadway, struck the ditch, and was facing the wrong direction. This collision happened near Exit 4C (Bedford Common), nearly 18 kilometres from where the initial collision occurred. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was showing signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested by a nearby member of Halifax Regional Police.

A 24-year-old woman from Halifax was taken to the Lower Sackville RCMP Detachment for a breath test which she refused. She is facing charges of Impaired Driving and Refusal and was released the same evening. She is scheduled to attend Dartmouth Provincial Court on March 21, 2018.

The investigation is ongoing.
