Vehicle pursuit through Bedford and HRM

At 3:40 a.m. Halifax Regional Police members respond to a suspicious vehicle complaint where a purple Dodge Spirit had gone over an embankment at 580 Portland Street.

The vehicle was located on the 118 Highway. A traffic pursuit ensued through Dartmouth, Fall River, Bedford and Tantallon.

HRP members disengaged the pursuit on Hammonds Plains Road. RCMP continued pursuit and ultimately the vehicle was travelling on 4 rims.

The pursuit continued out the 103 Highway and continued turning outbound on the 102 Highway.

HRP members blocked all exits which lead into Bedford. This allowed the pursuit to continue on the 102 Highway outbound.

At 5:50am, given the gravity of the vehicle not stopping and the time reaching the morning traffic hours, units positioned themselves in front of the vehicle and forced the suspect vehicle to stop.

The driver was taken into custody without incident. The driver will be charged with dangerous driving and flight from police.

Other charges are also being investigated. The accused will appear in Dartmouth court later today.
