The new ownership ensures that the Canadian team will compete in the upcoming SailGP season, starting this November in Dubai, and it’s already got fans excited for the future. Giles Scott, a double Olympic Gold medalist, is the team’s new driver, and he’s ready to make waves for Canada. “Winning in Halifax last season was unforgettable,” Scott said, recalling his big win in front of enthusiastic crowds last June.

And speaking of Halifax— the standout success of the 2024 inaugural Canadian edition many believe puts the city at the front of the pack for 2026. Last season, Halifax drew over 50,000 spectators and was named the “favorite racetrack” in a fan vote. Tickets sold out in just 12 minutes, the fastest in SailGP history, proving just how much Haligonians love this event.

Frank Denis of Sail Nova Scotia shared, “We’re thrilled to be working on our bid for 2026. The support has been overwhelming, and we’re confident about our chances.”
