Voluntary Water Conservation Measures Lifted for Customers Served by Lake Major

**** Halifax Water Media Release

The voluntary water conservation measures in place since August 22nd for customers served by Lake Major are being lifted effective immediately.

Water levels at Lake Major have returned to sustainable levels. Lake Major serves the communities of Dartmouth, Cole Harbour, Westphal, North Preston and Eastern Passage.

Halifax Water would like to thank all customers who helped to voluntarily conserve water during this period.

To better serve customers in the greater Dartmouth area, the new dam at Lake Major has been in service since mid-August. The new dam allows Halifax Water to better manage lake levels, impound more water, and provide for mandated fish passage through the dam.
