Volunteers needed for book bonanza

—via Chebucto Connections—

Spryfield Family Support Task Force- has set this year’s Book Bonanza for May 3rd at Captain William Spry Centre from 10 AM to 1PM.

Every year we invite the community to come in and take as many books as they want for free!  The event is always well-attended and residents look forward to it each year.

BOOK DONATIONS:

We are collecting donations of books until May 1st.  All Book donations are welcome, however books for Children and Youth are particularly in demand.  If you have ANY books you would like to donate that are in good condition, please drop them off at the Community Wellness Centre in the open space across from room 183(past the washrooms, turn right.)  THANK YOU!

VOLUNTEERS

It takes a lot of volunteers to make this Book Bonanza work.  On Friday May 1st, we need volunteers to help us move all the books from the Community Wellness Centre to the Captain Spry Centre.   Then we need volunteers for the entire day (or any part of the day) to help us organize the books into categories (Children/Youth/Adult-Fiction/Adult Non-Fiction etc)

We also need volunteers on the day of the event to help us look after the tables, replenish the books as books are taken away and help keep the tables neat and tidy so that everyone can see the books and easily find the ones they are looking for.  We also like to have someone meet and greet everyone when they come in and help people find what they are looking for.

Volunteers to help set up should arrive at 8:30 AM on Saturday.  10 AMis when the public comes in and the whole thing ends at 1PM, so then we need to clean up and our tradition is to order pizza for everyone who’s done so much work helping out!
