Walk to School Month in October

International Walk to School Month (and Walk at School Month) is coming up in October.

Have your school or group join the “movement” and register now online. There are great prizes to be won including:

– A bike donated by Cyclesmith to give away to a lucky bike-minded student

– A classroom pedometer kit

– Reflective arm/leg bands for all students (up to 500)

– Climate Change Teacher’s Guide by Green Teacher and an Ecology Action Centre membership

Is your school already registered? Find out here.

This year’s theme is Walking Safety. The Making Tracks: Walking module is a great way to educate your students on pedestrian safety. It is endorsed by the Department of Education and links with the P to 6 curriculum. Have your staff trained to offer it in class. Learn more at walk@ecologyaction.ca.

Active & Safe Routes to School is coordinated by the Ecology Action Center in partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness as part of the Active Kids Healthy Kids Initiative.
