Watchful residents report two impaired drivers in Digby area over weekend

Watchful residents helped keep roadways safe by reporting two impaired drivers in Digby over the weekend.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on February 3, Digby RCMP responded to a call of an abandoned vehicle parked in the middle of the street on Shore Rd. in Digby.Members found and arrested a 50-year-old Digby man. He faces an impaired driving charge. He was released from custody and will appear in Digby Provincial Court on April 9 at 9:30 a.m.

At approximately 7 p.m. on February 4, Digby RCMP responded to a call of a possible impaired driver on Hwy 217 in Centreville. A witness noticed a truck swerving, changing speeds and driving into the ditch. Members found the vehicle and arrested the driver, a 62-year-old man from Marshalltown. He faces an impaired driving charge. He was released from custody and will appear in Digby Provincial Court on April 9 at 9:30 a.m.

Digby RCMP thanks residents for their help to keep roadways safe by reporting impaired drivers. If you see someone you believe is driving while impaired, call 911. A description of the vehicle and driver, license plate number and direction of travel will help police in their search for the vehicle.
