Weapons charges after incident on Duke and Barrington

Halifax Regional Police has charged a man with weapons offences and uttering threats in relation to an incident that occurred yesterday in Halifax.

On October 1 at approximately 1:50 p.m. officers responded to reports of a man threatening people with a knife in the area of Duke and Barrington Streets in Halifax. Officers located the man a short distance away on Barington Street at which time he also threatened the officers. The man was arrested without further incident and the weapon was seized. There were no reported physical injuries.

Derrick James Paulette, 34, appeared in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of: 

  • Uttering threats to cause bodily harm
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public
  • Possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon
