Investigators in the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have laid weapons charges against the victim of the shooting that occurred yesterday morning in Bedford.
On November 13 at approximately 5:25 a.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to the QEII Health Sciences Centre after a victim of a shooting arrived at the hospital. As part of the investigation, a search warrant was obtained for the victim’s residence on Redden Court in Bedford. Based on the investigation, it has been determined that the shooting took place inside the residence. During the search of the residence, an unsecured firearm was located. During the search of the residence officers located a quantity of cash, drug paraphernalia and an unsecured firearm.
A 29-year-old Bedford man is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face weapons related charges. At this time investigators do not believe that this is a random act and are exploring whether the incident may be drug related.
