Weekend Wrap-up April 14-16


Happy Easter everyone! For peep’s sake your family deserves to see somebunny special, have an eggstravaganza, and take a sweet eggscape! Consider this Weekend Wrap-Up your guide to mall bunnies, egg hunts, and everything Easter.

The Easter Bunny will be hopping herself ragged for photo shoots at malls all around HRM. Catch the Bunny at Bedford Place Mall daily with the exception of Good Friday at various times until Saturday evening; enter Bunny Land at Mic Mac Mall in the afternoons until Saturday; listen to Bunny Tales at Sunnyside Mall at 11:30 preceding the bunny’s arrival at noon, daily until Saturday; and Hop into Halifax Shopping Centre on Thursday and Saturday. Expect to donate $5 to the SPCA for photo prints. Check out Urban Parent’s Calendar for a full list of times and locations. Such a busy bunny, it’s a wonder she doesn’t crack right up!

You don’t have to search hard to find egg hunts around here. There’s one in every burrow. In Hammonds Plains, Hatfield Farm has a 2 and ½ hour adventuresome egg hunt for $56/family on Saturday and Sunday starting at 10:30 and 1:30; in Down Town Dartmouth you can hop to your favourite shops to collect eggs on Saturday from 12-2; in Waverley, the Vegetorium is hosting an egg hunt with a wholesome twist at McDonald Sports Park on Saturday, it’s $5 in advance, $7 at the park; and in St. Margaret’s Bay, St. Luke’s United Church is having a free hunt on Rails to Trails on Saturday, email office@stlukesunited.ca to register.

Halifax Public Libraries never fail to keep up with the seasons and Easter is no exception. Find an egg near you…At the Cole Harbour location, there’s an Easter puppet show on Thursday at 10:30, Keshen Goodman is hosting a Preschool Egg Hunt on Saturday at 10, and Super Saturdays are about to get more super—this Saturday at 10:30, children of all ages are invited to grab their Easter baskets and Hop to it! As always, this fantastic Easter programing at the libraries is free, call it “Freaster,” if you will.
