Weekend Wrap-up: April 27-28, 2013

1. This Saturday marks the 2nd race of the year for the Youth Running Series, a fantastic set of races organized for kids in HRM every year. You can do them all, a couple, just one, or just get out and cheer! Saturday is Storm the Park, a fun race for all ages that takes place in Point Pleasant Park.

There was a huge turnout last year so arrive early enough to have time to register! 2. The Saltscapes East Coast Expo is on this weekend. They are proud to showcase our region’s unique artisans, producers and vendors! Go check it out, you’ll learn more about our fantastic province and what it has to offer! 3. Hooray, it’s the East Coast Momma Collective Spring Fair!! Come share in a unique craft fair experience at St. Mary’s Boat Club on Sunday from 9-3, no admission. Over 40 mompreneurs will be displaying their products, just in time for Mother’s Day. Bath and beauty products, kitchen linens, Eco friendly toys and cloth diapers, jewellery, artwork, scarves, locally roasted coffee, cookies, fudge, professional photo booth on site, just to name a few! HRM Parent will be there from 1-3 helping make and decorate wands with any kids who are interested. See you at the club! 4. The Halifax Dump and Run is an annual event, now in its 11th year, that is student-organized and community run through Saint Mary’s University Environmental Society (SMUES) and Dalhousie’s Office of Sustainability. Their goal is to divert waste from local landfills by collecting items people no longer have use for and selling them (cheap!) at a gymnasium-sized indoor yard sale in order to raise money for charitable organizations that support Halifax’s social and environmental well-being. The money raised all goes to local charities like Adsum, Alice Housing, Feed NS, etc.
