1. The Fringe Festival is back!! It’s the largest theatre festival in Atlantic Canada and with a number of all-ages/family-friendly performances to choose from, it’s a great way for your family to experience theatre in the city!

 Have you ever wanted to milk a cow or help in blacksmithing? This weekend is your chance, bring the whole family down for Participation Days and try your hand at the skills that your fore fathers took for granted as just part of their everyday lives. It’s your chance to step back in time and do some everyday hands on work. Different activities will be scheduled each day such as wood punching, quill pen writing, candle dipping, cow milking, and blacksmithing. Join in the fun and you will receive a Participant Certificate. It’s not to be missed it’s your chance to experience the 1800′s like never before.

3. It’s Shubie Park Interesting Insect Day! Grow a grasshopper or make a water strider. Try their insect identification activity and check out the insect display case with its incredible collection. You’ll get to discover how insects help humans too!

4. It’s all about beach volleyball this weekend as Sand Jam takes over the Halifax Waterfront. Come see the Canadian National Team Beach Volleyball Championships featuring the top 8 male and top 8 female Canadian beach volleyball teams.  Going on Fri-Sun it’s a fantastic sporting event that Halifax is proud to be hosting and one you don’t want to miss.

5. Join in for a weekend of dog friendly fun with the Halifax Kennel All Breed Dog Show at Exhibition Park this weekend. There will be All Breed Conformation Shows, Obedience Trials, “Meet the Breeds” and more at this annual event.
