Weekend Wrap-up: Dec 8-9, 2012

1. Heading out to the country to chop down a tree? Or maybe just feel like getting away from all the shopping madness? Either way, if you head down the South Shore you can experience the magic that is Christmas in the Country at Ross Farm. As part of the New Ross Christmas Festival, you can sample plum pudding, sugar cookies and warm spiced cider as you enjoy carols at Rose Bank Cottage and then bundle up and go for a horse drawn ride! There are plenty of other festivities going on as part of the Festival like u-pick Christmas trees, craft fairs, tree-lighting ceremony, parade of lights, musical puppet show, LED light exchange, community meals, Little Foot yurt display, homemade ice cream, wreath making, concerts and more! 2. As part of the Oxford Theatre's 75th anniversary, on Sunday at 1pm  they will be showing the holiday classic "It's a Wonderful Life"! 3. Get Shreddy! Bring your personal and/or work documents to be shredded courtesy of Shred Guard while the friendly staff at Oxford Learning entertain your children with holiday crafts and activities. Santa will join in the fun from 2 pm to 4 pm and hot chocolate will be served. Shredding services and holiday activities are free with a non-perishable food or cash donation to the Parker Street Food Bank. 4. Exciting news! Woozles is planning a pajama party and you're invited! Know who else is invited? Sheree Fitch!! So put on your best pajamas, work up an appetite for milk and cookies and join the one and only Sheree Fitch for their Storytime Celebration of the Season. Everyone who wears pajamas wins a prize (don't you wish this happened in real life?)! BEST pajamas wins a Woozles Gift Certificate! This event takes place on FRIDAY between 7-8 p.m... something for children to enjoy while you take advantage of all the wonderful deals of Shopping Under the Stars on Spring Garden. 5. It's Family Sunday at the Maritime Museum and this month they've got special Christmas at Sea crafts planned! They've got Traditional Victorian Christmas Crafts Workshop - Create your own Christmas cards and decorations for the Holiday Season. And Ribbon Christmas Wreath Workshop - Make a miniature Christmas wreath for the tree in this fun workshop. It's also their LEGO Exhibit Opening - A delight for visitors of all ages, LEGO: City by the Sea will once again be on display in the temporary exhibit area. Owen Grace of the Nova Scotia LEGO Users Group has come up with another amazing collection of familiar buildings and ships, crafted out of LEGO. There will also be a scavenger hunt to test your powers of observation! ...
