1. Sometimes Christmas is about getting what you really want. Head to the Neptune for this holiday classic, A Christmas Story, that follows ten-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas.

Ralphie pleads his case before his parents, his teacher and even the big man, Santa Claus himself. The response? “No, you’ll shoot your eye out!” Featuring all of the elements from the beloved film including a pink bunny suit, a triple-dog-dare to lick a frozen pole and the infamous leg lamp. This nostalgic look at a bygone era is perfect holiday treat for the entire family!

2. Symphony Nova Scotia’s The Nutcracker has been Halifax’s favourite holiday tradition for almost 25 years. When a little girl’s toy comes to life, she’s whisked away to an enchanted world where she must overcome the ferocious Mouse Queen! Featuring innovative giant puppets, spirited dancing, and Tchaikovsky’s hauntingly beautiful music, this tale of magic and wonder is a seasonal treat for all ages.

3. It’s the Holiday Science Spectacular! An afternoon of scientific discovery hosted by Saint Mary’s University scientists and Discovery Centre educators. This family-friendly, live holiday show will amaze and entertain children of all ages. Free Admission!

4. A present for everyone this holiday season, the Halifax Central Library opens on Saturday! It’s sure to be one of the biggest parties of the year is kicking off at 9:00 a.m. with an outdoor concert from The Town Heroes. Check out the full schedule of events that run all day until 6:00 p.m!

5. As part of the Quinpool Road holiday celebrations, your family is invited to a screening of Elf at the Oxford Theatre this weekend. It’s free with a donation to the food bank!
