Weekend Wrap-up: Feb 2-3, 2013

 

1. It's Eaglewatch 2013 weekend! Hundreds of Bald Eagles come to the Annapolis Valley each year, and the community hosts this event to help share these spectacular birds. Visit their designated viewing site at Sheffield Mills in the morning for best viewing opportunities. While you're there be sure to visit their Community Centre for a delicious pancake and sausage breakfast, great music and Eagle related exhibits. 2. Celebrate the Chinese New Year, year of the snake! At St. Mary's on Sunday, the celebrations will include: Face painting, Fish Pond, Sucker Pull, Chopstick & Bead Race, Crafts including jewelry making for the older children, Performances by the Chinese Society of Nova Scotia, A Performance by the Future Stars Learning Centre, Light refreshments and more! 3. On Sunday bring the kids out to enjoy balloons, face-painting, carnival games and treats, bouncy castles, and more! The Fountain Play Centre Annual Kids Carnival is on and open to the public! 4. Get ready for the science spectacle of the season – Science Carnivale – happening this weekend! Discovery Centre will be hosting live magic shows with Mr. Magic five times daily on Saturday and Sunday. Don’t miss your chance to learn the science behind the art of busking, including math-based card tricks, hula-hooping and even music with carnival tube organs! 5. The Museum of Natural History is pleased to welcome Little Ray's Reptile Zoo back to the Museum this January with a new live animal experience. Living Under Fire: Life in the Desert!
