Many families have started the weekend early due to the public school PD day today so here’s some more events and activities to keep you going all weekend long! 1. Calling all dog owners and lovers. On Sunday head to the Halifax Forum from 10am – 3pm for Metro’s Doggie Extravaganza!! 2. This weekend marks the return of the “Skate the Common” Marathon at the Oval on the Halifax Common. There are different distance race options; a triathlon, sledge racing and a 5K icebreaker Family Event to kick it all off. Come out to race yourself or cheer on other skaters. It’s an event not to be missed this weekend! 3. Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo is back in town this weekend! This special bilingual exhibit features some of the most infamous reptiles alive today including giant snakes, alligators, giant Komodo dragon type lizards, birds of prey, cobras, rattlesnakes, giant tortoises and event tarantulas and scorpions. As well as the live animals, for the first time in Nova Scotia, Little Ray’s is bringing some of the greatest fossil reptile skulls of the past including a Mososaur, a Triceratops, a Sarcosuchus skull (the super croc), and the greatest reptile of all time – the Tyrannosaurus Rex! 4. During pregnancy, labour, birth, breastfeeding and parenting there are many choices to make. To make those choices from a place of power verses fear creates a very different experience. Join Karen Reed at Nurtured on Sunday to explore how to confidently make choices that are right for you and your baby. 5. Practice your counting skills this weekend with the Great Backyard Bird Count! The Nature Trust will lead bird walks this Friday and Saturday in Halifax and Eastern Passage to collect data for the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC), and have fun too. Join us! All ages and all bird watching skill levels welcome. Please dress warmly, and bring binoculars if you have them.
