Weekend Wrap-up March 10-12

1. On Sunday, let the Irish Parade! The 10th Annual Halifax Saint Patrick’s Day Parade starts at 1pm at Pier 20 and marches to the Historic Properties. Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank will be collecting donations of cash and non-perishable food items along the parade route, and ASL Airlines is sponsoring a raffle for 2 tickets from Halifax to Dublin or Paris!
2. Sticking around HRM without a solid plan of attack for March Break? Knead to practice Capoeira? Don’t want to skip tasting chocolate? Pier 21 is doing a different food-related workshop every day and a dash of dance workshop/performances including rope skipping and the Brazilian martial art of capoeira! Check the Urban Parent Calendar for times. These daily activities are included in Museum admission.  What if you’re looking for a Dr. who prescribes a good dose of Voom and refers patients to a Lorax? Both Chapters locations in Bayers Lake and Mic Mac Mall are offering free daily activities for kids at 11. As well as a Dr. Seuss Day, they have crafting and games days! And you can still check our list of local day camps, there might still be a spot for your kid to attend a day camp somewhere!
3. Paint parties have become quite the hot ticket events, how about one where you are invited to bring your kids 9 and over to? Family friendly paint parties aren’t popping up somewhere every weekend (not that we’re complaining, adults only paint parties ARE a ton of fun). This Saturday in Tantallon at Breathing Space Yoga Studio, make your paint merrily move from the palate to the 8 X 10 canvas with the whole fam. Sadie Jane from Seaborn Art Studios is hosting this good time for 35$ a head, materials and beautiful artwork included. Please call 902-820-YOGA to pre-register.
4. It might be our last chance to freeze this weekend so take advantage of the Free Skate at the Oval on Saturday at 1. Skate rentals, push trolleys, helmets required for under 13-year-olds… Free! Brought to you by FULL Connection who will be there to serve beaver tails and hot bevvies. Please RSVP on their facebook event page.
