Weekend Wrap-up: May 23-24, 2015

1. Ever wonder where all the flowers and trees for our parks and open spaces come from? The municipality has two large greenhouses, one in Halifax and one in Dartmouth where all the flowering annuals, veggies and other specimen plants are grown for our parks and gardens! Come and check them out at their open house in Dartmouth this weekend!

The Kermesse flea market and book sale is back for another great year. Bring the whole family to Gorsebrook School on Saturday to hunt for treasures and deals in support of the IWK.

3. It’s time to climb! OnTree is open for the season! Check out the Junior Jungle where they offer two fun courses for younger climbers. Let your little ones zip and climb safely through the course while you watch them from the ground.

Or check out SEVEN BAYS BOULDERING is a new bouldering gym in downtown Halifax on Gottingen Street. With lots of fun and climbing challenges for all ages, you’ll want to check it out for sure!

4. Join Halifax Circus as they take a journey “Down the Rabbit Hole” – exploring the world of “Alice in Wonderland” and “Alice Through the Looking Glass.” Their performance troupe, inspired by the characters, story and colourful world of Alice have put together a show that’s perfect for all ages.

5. Head down the South Shore to welcome spring at the annual Mayfair at the South Shore Waldorf School. Enjoy live music, healthy food and plenty of fun activities for children and adults!
